The Meadoway is coming!

The Friends of Cedarbrook & Thomson Memorial Parks were delighted to be invited to the official announcement of the Meadoway on April 11! As written on their website at :

The Meadoway is transforming a barren power corridor into a vibrant 16-kilometre stretch of urban greenspace and meadowlands that will become one of Canada’s largest linear urban parks.

meadowayCyclists and pedestrians will soon be able to travel from the heart of downtown Toronto to Rouge National Urban Park without ever leaving nature. Over the next seven years this site will turn into a place filled with butterflies, birds and wildflowers – a rich meadow landscape realized on a scale never before seen in the history of Toronto.

But of course, it’s not all barren: we like to think of the Meadoway as inspired by, and an extension of, our own community’s Scarborough Butterfly Gatineau trail, between our two parks. Members of our group have planted many native flowers and bushes there.

We’re thrilled about the Meadoway and look forward to being a part of its community!
